Crous public student residences in Valence

These residences are managed by the Centres Régionaux des Œuvres Universitaires et Scolaires (Crous), and are subsidized by the French government. They are by far the most economical and popular type of accommodation for students.

Benefits

Crous residences are furnished and offer a wide range of facilities: wifi, laundry, TV room, bicycle garage, parking lot, library/press, computer room, disabled access. They are often located in the immediate vicinity of university sites and close to transport links.

Constraints

Beware, however, that these homes have a few limitations:

  • The number of places is limited, and priority is given to students with social grants (awarded by the French government). Applying does not necessarily mean obtaining a room.
  • For the start of the new academic year in September, the Crous follow a precise timetable for applying for and allocating accommodation. Your application must be submitted as early as July (the exact date is announced by the Crous in June), because after this deadline, it becomes very difficult to find a place.
  • This type of accommodation is not suitable if you live with your children. If you are a couple, you will need to check on a case-by-case basis whether the accommodation is suitable for you.

Price guide

The monthly rent for a furnished T1 in a student residence in Valence starts at €276 (electricity and heating included, Visale guarantee accepted, no administration fees).

Steps to take

The main phase in the allocation of Crous accommodation is reserved exclusively for students who have completed a student social file. This procedure is therefore essential, and priority is given to students who meet the regulatory conditions for applying for a grant based on social criteria.

What you need to know

We advise you not to contact the Crous directly, nor to visit the Crous Valence office. Please consult the Crous website regularly to see what accommodation is available.

Students with disabilities

The Crous has several residences on the university estate and in Grenoble, with accessible and adapted rooms and studios. To find out about your rights and benefit from these accommodations, please contact the social assistant, Crous technical advisor.
