Anti-LGBTQIA+ hate, what are we talking about?

Visit anti-LGBTQIA+ hate This includes, among others, lesbophobia, homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. It is also referred to as LGBTQIA+ phobias.

Anti-LGBTQIA+ hate takes the form of any negative attitude, any act of contempt, hatred, exclusion, physical or verbal violence against a person because of their sexual orientation or gender identity, whether real or perceived.

Anti-LGBTQIA+ hatred can take many forms: insults, degrading remarks, exclusion, harassment, physical violence, outing (revealing a person's gender identity or sexual orientation without their consent)...

Visit discrimination based on appearance, gender identity, sex and sexual orientation are recognized and sanctioned by law.

Manifestations of anti-LGBTQIA+ hatred can constitute various types of criminal offenses. These behaviors are subject to disciplinary action at the university.

Our commitments

At Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), we are committed to preventing anti-LGBTQIA+ hate, protecting and supporting victims of anti-LGBTQIA+ hate, and processing reports of LGBTQIA+ phobias.

We are committed to the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people at the university, in accordance with the Circular dated June 20, 2023, in particular with respect for the gender identity, first name and pronouns used by our staff, students and students.

Are you a victim or witness of an LGBTQIA+phobic act at UGA? You can report it and receive support and guidance from the university's specialized services. We have put in place an online form intended for students and staff.

Respect for gender identity

In order to improve the reception of the student public whose civil status change procedures are not completed, any student has the possibility, upon written request addressed to the establishment, to be designated by their first name or their preferred name, and to have the mention of their gender changed on several documents.
