Domestic violence, intra-family violence: what are we talking about?

  • Verbal and/or psychological violence (denigration, humiliation, threats, blackmail, guilt-tripping, harassment, etc.).
  • Cyberviolence (digital surveillance, cyberbullying, password theft, etc.).
  • Administrative and economic violence (withholding of administrative documents, financial dependence, monopoly on bank account management, etc.).
  • Sexual violence (sexual harassment, sexual assault, marital rape, incest, etc.).
  • Driving one's partner or ex-partner to suicide is also considered a form of femicide.
The violence listed above is recognized as a criminal offence, and the marital, family context, abuse of authority and violence against minors are aggravating circumstances.
