Heatwave: the university swimming pool is open free of charge to the UGA community

Faced with episodes of intense heat, the University of Grenoble Alpes is activating an exceptional measure: the free opening of its university swimming pool for its entire community (students, staff and children of staff) on days placed under orange or red heatwave alert by Météo-France.

A concrete response to climate and well-being challenges

By opening its swimming pool free of charge during heat waves, UGA hopes to offer its community a cool space and contribute to preserving the health and the well-being of everyone.
This initiative is fully aligned with the Quality of Life and Working Conditions (QWL) policy implemented by the institution. It illustrates UGA's commitment to translating its promises into tangible actions, particularly in the face of increasingly frequent and intense climate events that demand a rapid adaptation of our collective practices.

Who can benefit?

Free access is available, upon presentation of proof of eligibility, to:
  • Students upon presentation of a valid student card
  • UGA staff upon presentation of their professional card
  • Children of staff members accompanied by an adult holding a professional card
Access is conditional upon an official heatwave warning (orange or red level) in the department.
No reservation is necessary. Simply present yourself at the reception of the university swimming pool with your proof of eligibility during an open time slot on a day of declared heatwave alert.

Opening slots

Until June 29th:
  • Monday to Friday: 12pm to 2pm and 5pm to 6:30pm
  • Saturday: from 12pm to 5:40pm
From June 30th to July 17th:
  • Monday to Friday: from 12pm to 5:40pm.
The swimming pool will then be closed for the summer period from July 18th to August 30th.
