Sustainable Development Visit , School Life, Staff Life, Student Life
June 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026 Villar-d'Arène - Lautaret Garden
Every day (including weekends and public holidays) at 10:30, 14:30 and 16:00. One-hour guided tour to discover the 2,000 species of alpine flowers in our collection, originating from all over the world.

The Lautaret Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful in Europe! Discover, in an incredible setting, 2,000 species of alpine plants, presented by geographic origin, habitat, botanical classification, and medicinal, toxic, or edible properties. Each step leads you to a new continent on this botanical and dreamlike world tour. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, wander among streams, boardwalks, ponds, recreated habitats, natural meadows, a historic chalet, centuries-old trees, a bird sanctuary... until you reach this unique view of La Meije reflected in the water of a small pond with its lush banks.

In addition to guided tours of the botanical garden, numerous activities are scheduled throughout the summer. These include open-air concerts, storytelling walks, botanical watercolor workshops, photography workshops, other workshops, meetings, conferences, and behind-the-scenes scientific tours.

The Lautaret Garden is a hub of scientific research. Discover its history in the museum space and by following the "discovery and science" panels scattered throughout the garden. The questions raised by scientific experiments conducted at Lautaret—concerning biodiversity, glacier evolution, the greening of the Alps, climate change and related practices, and the impacts on various mountain ecosystems—will no longer hold any secrets for you.
