Following its inaugural edition in 2026, the Student Citizens' Convention is back for a second round! It will bring together 50 students selected by lottery, reflecting the diversity of profiles at UGA. This innovative and deliberative process invites students to exchange ideas, learn, and deliberate on a topic related to ecological transition. The goal? To make recommendations on strategic issues for Université Grenoble Alpes and participate in shaping the institution's policies. The next Citizens' Convention will take place from February 15th to 19th and on March 4th and 5th, 2027.

Choose the next theme

For this new edition, all UGA students will be able to choose the topic for the CCE from among four proposals. A poll is open for voting and will run until October 4th.

The four proposed themes are:

1. Studying in a changing climate: rethinking university rhythms

Extreme heat and weather events are challenging the current organization of university schedules: class times and conditions, lunch breaks, travel, exam and internship periods, etc. The CCE could consider concrete solutions to adapt study rhythms to the new climatic realities, while preserving the quality of education and study conditions.

2. A just ecological transition: reducing inequalities between students

Ecological upheavals and the measures taken to address them do not affect all students in the same way: their economic resources, housing conditions, mobility options, and exposure to environmental risks create different vulnerabilities. The CCE (Council for Ecological Transition) could consider how UGA's (University of Grenoble Alpes) ecological transition policy can help reduce these inequalities and avoid placing a disproportionate burden on those with fewer resources.

3. A more sustainable student life: facilitating the ecological transition on a daily basis

Getting around, eating, housing, equipping oneself, traveling, playing sports, or participating in community life: many of our daily activities can evolve to reduce their environmental impact. The CCE could identify the obstacles that make these changes difficult for students and consider how UGA can help them adopt more sustainable practices and facilitate the ecological transition.

4. Preparing for the world of tomorrow: the skills to understand and act in the face of ecological upheaval

Faced with environmental crises, today's students will need new skills and abilities, both professionally and as citizens. The CCE could consider the skills that students would like or should acquire to strengthen their capacity to act – within their academic programs but also through extracurricular, professional, or community experiences – and the means that UGA could implement to enable everyone to develop these skills.

The recommendations of the CCE 2026

In 2026, students worked on the theme: "+2°C by 2050, what do we do?". The members of the Citizens' Climate Convention made 12 recommendations relating to biodiversity, food, and governance.
