Visit to the botanical garden - medicinal and edible plants

Sustainable Development Visit
October 3, 2026 , Grenoble metropolitan area, La Tronche
As part of the Science Festival, which this year has the theme "Scholarly Flavors," come and discover the Dominique Villars Botanical Garden in the heart of the site. health and its medicinal and food plants.
Within the Dominique Villars University Garden, attached to the faculties of medicine and pharmacy of the University of Grenoble Alpes, this visit offers an exploration of medicinal food plants, at the interface between nutritional and therapeutic use.
Certain botanical families, such as the Apiaceae (fennel, parsley, cumin), particularly illustrate this dual function, with species widely used in food while also possessing recognized pharmacological properties. Other common plants, such as nettle, will be discussed for their traditional uses and their constituents of interest.
Particular attention will be paid to the risks of confusion with morphologically similar toxic species, especially between wild garlic and autumn crocus, or between black locust and laburnum.
The whole will be placed in a perspective of pharmacognosy and reasoned use of plants, in connection with current scientific knowledge.
