How does the status process work?

Applications for committed student status are made online by completing a form.

Each component (school, faculty or institute) reviews the application. The final decision depends on the regulations and practices of each program.

Your component will examine your application, come back to you for more information if necessary, and keep you informed of its decision. Processing times vary from component to component.

What study options are available?

Depending on your type of commitment, the possibilities offered by your component and in accordance with your course's study regulations, you may be able to benefit from special arrangements to enable you to pursue your studies, for example :
  • Organization of timetable (choice of TD or TP groups).
  • Authorization for justified absence (one-off).
  • Waiver of attendance (for an entire course).
  • Staggered curriculum.

What are the validation options?

Validation of your student-commitment status is an integral part of your degree. Depending on your type of commitment, and in accordance with your component's possibilities and your course's study regulations, you may be awarded a bonus (maximum 0.5 points on the overall average).

The bonus does not apply:
  • For salaried students.
  • To family caregivers / Family members
  • Elected representatives from local authorities.

What you need to know
