Our university recognizes and values your commitment with the status of "Committed Student".
Who is eligible for student status?
Student reservists.
Student volunteer firefighters.
Students employed on a contract of at least three months and at least 10 hours a week, whose contract applies to periods of teaching activity (course and exam weeks).
Civic service students.
Students who are active members of an association's board.
Student caregivers (people caring for a loved one with a disability, loss of independence or illness) and/or family carers (parents).
Students elected to Université Grenoble Alpes bodies (central and UFR councils) and/or the Crous.
Students elected to a local authority.
How does the status process work?
Applications for committed student status are made online by completing a form.
Each component (school, faculty or institute) reviews the application. The final decision depends on the regulations and practices of each program.
Your component will examine your application, come back to you for more information if necessary, and keep you informed of its decision. Processing times vary from component to component.
What study options are available?
Depending on your type of commitment, the possibilities offered by your component and in accordance with your course's study regulations, you may be able to benefit from special arrangements to enable you to pursue your studies, for example :
Organization of timetable (choice of TD or TP groups).
Authorization for justified absence (one-off).
Waiver of attendance (for an entire course).
Staggered curriculum.
What are the validation options?
Validation of your student-commitment status is an integral part of your degree. Depending on your type of commitment, and in accordance with your component's possibilities and your course's study regulations, you may be awarded a bonus (maximum 0.5 points on the overall average).
The bonus does not apply:
For salaried students.
To family caregivers / Family members
Elected representatives from local authorities.
What you need to know
If you're involved in a student union, or if you're a volunteer in an association without being a member of the board, you can't apply for student volunteer status. However, the ETC Engagement associatif et syndical may be of interest to you! More information
How and when can I apply for student status?
Applications for engaged student status are done online.
Your application will then be reviewed by your department (faculty, school, or institute). They will make the final decision based on the rules of your program.
It is no longer possible to apply for engaged student status for the 2025-2026 academic year..
The next application period for student status will be for the 2026-2027 academic year and will begin at the end of August 2026. Information will be published on this page when it becomes available.
