Assistance from the Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (Caf)
Once you've signed the lease for your accommodation, you can apply to the French social security office (Caf) for housing assistance. Eligibility criteria depend on your personal situation (income, rent, type of apartment...).
International students
You may be eligible for housing subsidies from Caf, subject to certain conditions.
If you apply for housing benefit on your own, you will no longer be considered dependent on your parents. This has consequences for their family benefits, which may be reduced or even withdrawn. You must therefore choose between receiving housing benefit on your own or retaining your parents' family benefits, rather than applying for it yourself.
The request is available exclusively on the Caf website. Don't delay to avoid losing your rights. The file is transmitted directly once validated. Only the supporting documents need to be sent by post or teletransmitted. There's no need to go anywhere!
You can also simulate your housing benefit directly online.
