UGA wishes to provide various stakeholders in the university community with a guide to best practices to reduce the environmental impact of the many events organized on these campuses.
Why this guide?
Each year, UGA organizes several dozen events at its various sites, generating numerous impacts on the environment in terms of resources, climate and biodiversity.
This guide aims to support the various stakeholders of the University - students and staff of the components, central services and laboratories - in the organization of eco-responsible events, whether on campus or outside.
It offers 50 ideas for actions divided into major themes (communication, transport, waste management, etc.).
The primary objective is to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint after the event, with a view to progressive change in practice and continuous improvement. This will notably contribute to the establishment's objective of reducing GHG emissions by 35% by 2030.
A guide co-constructed with the university community
This guide is the result of a year of work with around twenty UGA structures, including those at the genesis of the project: the Department of Culture and Scientific Culture, the Department of Communications, the Department of Student Life and the Department of Ecological Transformation.
This year-long project enabled the guide's contents to be adapted to the university contexts of Grenoble and Valence and to the various target audiences (laboratories, central services, UFRs and students).
Work continued to include annexes concerning useful contacts for the component establishments in a second version of the document.
3 ways to make this guide your own
By offering you guidelines and methods, this practical guide will help you implement an environmental, social and sustainable approach based on your objective or state of progress:
If you would like to take stock of your current practices, you can start by completing the self-positioning at the end of the guide which will help you choose which parts of the guide to consult as a priority.
If you have an event project, you can start by filling out the "commitment and self-assessment charter" and then, depending on the themes chosen, you will look in the guide for the recommended actions.
Finally, if you wish to draw inspiration from best practices on a particular topic, you can choose the desired theme in the summary and go to the dedicated section.
The action sheets, divided into twelve themes and accompanied by useful contacts, will guide you. The list of actions and contacts is not exhaustive and may be expanded as feedback is received.
Enjoy reading and thank you for your commitment to the environment.
