March 1, 2026 - March 31, 2026Saint-Martin-d'Hères - University Campus
As part of Equality Month, the University of Grenoble Alpes invites you to discover the work of Thomas Mathieu, author of the comic strip "Les Crocodiles", which raises public awareness of the issues of street harassment, machismo and everyday sexism.
The Crocodiles
Thomas Mathieu illustrates testimonies from women related to issues such as street harassment, machismo, and everyday sexism. His work is part of a broader movement of awareness and a new generation of feminists who use the internet to reflect on and inform about concepts such as "slut-shaming" or "male privilege".
In her panels, the settings and female characters are rendered realistically in black and white, while the men are depicted as green crocodiles. The reader is invited to adopt the perspective of the woman who is bearing witness and to question the behavior of the crocodiles, particularly when they assume the stereotypical roles of womanizers/predators/dominant figures.
Some testimonies may be upsetting or resonate with personal situations.
Where can I see the exhibition?
