MT180: the event where scientific rigor meets stage performance

Competitions, Shows, Scientific and Technical Culture, Research
March 17, 2026 Grenoble metropolitan area
On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., don't miss the Grenoble Academy final of the "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" competition, a flagship event for science communication in Grenoble. The 16 finalist doctoral candidates from Université Grenoble Alpes and Université Savoie Mont Blanc will be on the legendary stage of the MC2: Grenoble's cultural center, for an evening where knowledge meets eloquence. Come and support them and award the Audience Choice Prize. This free event is open to all upon registration.

More than a competition, high-level performances

While the concept has become a classic, the challenge remains immense for the finalists: to condense years of complex research into just three minutes. Selected from numerous candidates, they received exceptional training. Guided by experts in public speaking and science communication, they honed every word, every gesture, and every metaphor. The result? Performances of surgical precision, delivered with contagious passion and the promise of a truly high-quality show.

A parenthesis between science and poetry

Because science and art share the same taste for exploration, the evening will be punctuated by unique interludes. High-level student artists from UGA will take to the MC2 stage to offer the audience moments of poetic and artistic respite.

You are the jury: lead your candidates to victory!

For this high-flying final, the electric atmosphere in the hall is the driving force behind the finalists: your presence and support propel them to the very last second of the clock. Beyond the prizes awarded by the jury of experts, it is you, the audience, who hold crucial power. After the performances, you will be invited to vote for your favorite contestant. The Audience Choice Award is one of the three qualifying prizes that open the doors to the next stage of the MT180 adventure.
